Raison poured a fairly clear, light brownish color with a thumb width, light tan head. The aroma is rich, malty, and has fruity esters. The body is deep and complex with a smooth mouthfeel and a low amount of carbonation. There is a nice sweetness up front with rich malt, and a lot of dark fruit. There is a light amount of alcohol at the end which gives off a warming finish.
Overall, this is quite a beer. It is really rich, yet hides the 8% ABV well. The raisons add a very nice flavor, and the sweetness is a nice touch. Another big, bold, tasty beer from Dogfish!
