Pitch Black IPA poured a dark brown color with a two fingered width, off white head. The nose is incredible with roasted malt, and very pungent, piney hops. The body has plenty of roasted malt with with a mellow middle and hop edges. The finish is pleasant, dry with a sharp hop bite on finish that is not overly done. The glass was coated with hanging lace. Overall, this is a very, very good beer. Complex, balanced, and rich with flavor, this is a great interpretation of the new Black IPA style. This might be Widmer's best.
