Anaheim, CA (07/7/2011) Anaheim Beer, famous before Prohibition and a part of the German lifestyle in the early days of Anaheim, has returned after ninety years. Anaheim Brewery will host its grand opening day celebration on Saturday, July 16, and invites all Anaheim locals and visitors. Tom Tait, the mayor of Anaheim, will attend to mark the occasion. The celebration runs from 12 to 6 pm on Saturday.
Festivities include:
- Street food from neighborhood restaurants
- Mayor Tom Tait taps the ceremonial keg at 12:30
- Cake cutting at 3:30pm
- Hourly brewery tours
The Anaheim Brewery Tasting Room is open from 11 am to 9 pm on Saturday. The light-filled room is about 60 ft. in length with generous views of the copper brewing equipment. Long-time Anaheim residents will recall the Covered Wagon Saloon which unfortunately closed in 2002; the restored Covered Wagon bar is a feature of Anaheim Brewery’s new Tasting Room. Full of Anaheim’s rich history, locals and visitors can celebrate the grand opening with flights of the beers that were imbibed almost a century ago!
We invite the media to come to Anaheim Brewery on Saturday and witness the strong local community support and capture the sheer delight and excitement from patrons. One may run into Lecil Slaback, 96 year old Anaheimer who remembers the old Anaheim Beer slogan: One for a nickel, Two for a dime, Get your beer in Anaheim!
