Old Fezzwig poured a reddish brown color, with a thumb width, off white head. The nose is predominatly malty with a few spices offering some contrasting aromas. The body is smooth, and malty before leading to a mildly dry finish.
Overall, this is a nice red ale. I am a big fan of simple, well made beer, and this is a textbook example. It is restrained enough to have a few, but the balanced and rounded out body provide plenty to enjoy here.
